"Carrying on a 200-year-old tradition of distilling excellence, the Lagavulin distillery is said to be one of the oldest distilleries on Islay. Founded in 1816 by farmer John Johnston and later led by Peter Mackie in 1890, the name Lagavulin would become the last word on the delicacy of Islay malts. Miles and miles of peat bog in the west of the island provide the raw material which imbues the barley with their iconic smoky flavor. The rich peaty water from the tranquil Lochan Sholum in the hills above the distillery adds to the unique flavors. It takes time, but the Lagavulin team knows that patience is a virtue, and rushing good whisky is just not how things are done in Islay.
In 1742 there were at least ten illicit stills at Lagavulin. It would be another 74 years until local farmer John Johnston founded the first legal distillery in sight of Dunyvaig Castle. Its name may have changed over the years, but the quiet power of peat and smoke that pervades this masculine malt has not. Lagavulin 8 Year Old Single Malt Scotch features notes of lemon peel, sweet smoke, dried green herbs, baked apricot, and cedar that rise from the glass. While lighter in body, it is rather powerful with rich smoke and minerals balanced by allusions to honeysuckle and white peach.Volume: 750 ml

For their third limited release, Lagavulin and Nick Offerman crafted Lagavulin Offerman Edition Charred Oak Cask 11 Year Old Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky as the perfect whisky to sip with the perfect steak.
This Lagavulin Single Malt Scotch Whisky is matured for at least 11 years in heavily charred former bourbon and red wine barrels. The resulting flavor features hints of round red berries, a touch of briny saltiness, notes of vanilla, and the signature Lagavulin intense peat. Best enjoyed as Offerman intended, with a grilled medium-rare rib-eye steak - or any robust meal - either neat or on the rocks.
