Highclere Castle Gin was launched in 2019 to celebrate Highclere Castle’s centuries-old reputation for entertaining to the highest standards. For weekend guests, the evening often starts with gin cocktails, and on particularly fun evenings, ends with them too. It is a much loved tradition that is still maintained to this day.
Highclere Castle super premium London Dry Gin highlights their commitment to agriculture and honors British traditions in every bottle. The recipe itself was crafted over the course of four years by spirits entrepreneur Adam von Gootkin alongside George Herbert, 8th Earl, and the Countess of Carnarvon, the owners and stewards of Highclere Castle. The botanicals used in production are even harvested from Highclere Castle's ancient estate. Juniper has grown wild on the estate since the ancient Roman days, and forms the backbone of this premium spirit.
Highclere Castle Gin possess a rare level of smoothness that allows it to be enjoyed on the rocks, mixed with tonic and a lime, or served in a classic martini. Early 20th century menus and letters recovered from the Carnarvon family archives reference gin cocktails served in the “Highclere Style." This traditional method of indulgence is made with gin, tonic, a fresh orange squeeze and peel, and is finished with a rosemary sprig—ideally from Highclere Castle's garden.
