1928 $ 100 Federal Reserve # 4 Cleveland CU Redeemable in Gold # 056

Being offered today is a very crisp perfect Crisp Uncirculated (CU) 1928 $100.00 Federal Reserve note. It is from the Cleveland Series which is designated by the “4” on the left side of the note. (see pics). The use of numbers was changed to lettering for the 1928 A Series. The number “4” represents the 4th letter in the alphabet, which is the letter “D”, which is the letter for the BEP in Cleveland. So, this note is the early version of this series and that is why it is more collectable.

THE NOTE ALSO HAS THE REDDEMABLE IN GOLD STATEMENT ON THE UPPER LEFT SIDE OF THE NOTE:

“REDEEMABLE IN GOLD ON DEMAND AT THE UNITED STATES TREASURY, OR IN GOLD OR LAWFUL MONEY AT ANY FEDERAL RESERVE BANK”

This note also has a low serial number on it. The note starts out with 00. The note only has 6 digits. The complete serial number is: D 00258056 A . Lower serial numbered notes are much harder to find! Especially in the 1928 $100.00 series. This also appears to be an ERROR note as the letter “D” at the beginning of the serial number was printed a little bit higher. This happened because the letter wheel had not completely rotated.

The color just pops off the note. The margins are centered very well, and the ink just pops off the note. The colors are bright and bold. The vibrant colors and well-preserved paper add to its visual eye appeal. The note has fantastic eye appeal. The note shows no sign of wear on the corners or the sides. All of the corners and edges of the note are crisp and clean. There are no pinholes, rips, stains, or tears.
