Hard at work, this miner exemplifies Mexico's storied mining legacy. Armando Ramírez crafts the sculpture with great dexterity, envisioning scrap pieces of metal as different body parts and accessories. For example, a spark plug is transformed into the miner's body and wires become the arms and feet as well as the pick axe on his shoulder. Pieces of a die machine are used to shape the helmet and boots. His vest is made from mosquito netting and the rock came from a die machine.
