Wonderful French Model 1822 Flintlock Conversion Pistol
Product Description
A wonderful French model 1822 flintlock pistol, dated 1823. From just around the time of the Napoleonic Wars! A French M1822 percussion pistol which was converted to a percussion lock system shortly thereafter. A big and burly pistol with solid wood stock, iron barrel and brass straps and butt fitting. The date 1823 is stamped on the barrel, and the original owner’s name engraved in cursive script on the lock plate. Mostly worn away with use in antiquity But appears to read something along the lines of “Mr R(xxx) de Fulle(xxx). This is a standard-issue French infantry pistol which appears to have had a lot of use. Nicely preserved with dings and wear commensurate with age. Hammer still holds at cock with powerful action. Total pistol length 13.25”. This is an antique and not warranted safe to shoot and it should not be attempted without the aid of an expert. Ex New York collection. Accompanied by a hand-signed certificate of authenticity which includes all the details, culture, dating, motifs/inscriptions when applicable, historical relevance, and provenance.
