London Sharpe Percussion Pistol // 1830-1850
Product Description
An excellent London Sharpe Percussion Pistol, manufactured 1830-1850. Beautiful twist-steel barrel engraved with a Damascus pattern, high notch rear sight, the front sight almost flattened, with “captive” swivel ramrod. Top of barrel and lock marked "SHARPE LONDON". The back action hammer lock has highlights of nice scroll engraving that extend to the hammer, the breech has a triangle pattern border engraving. Wedge fastened walnut stock with spear finial triggerguard and checkered wrist. The metal has a nice gray patina with light pitting, marks & scratches. Stock has good varnish with numerous handling marks and a few small cracks common for a pistol of this age. The bore shows the unusual small groove rifling having pitting throughout. Hammer is able to hold at cock, with a tight snap! With a .60-caliber, 6.75” barrel (entire pistol length 12”). Ex Fairfield, ME private weapons collection. An excellent addition to any collection!
