Ancient Chinese Bell // Zhou Dyn, Spring & Autumn Period, 650-400 BC
Ancient China, Zhou Dynasty, Spring and Autumn Period, 650-400 BC. Large Bronze Bell (“zhong qian or ch'ung”). As made, with long intact clapper comprised of its own small bell and clapper, basically constituting three separate ringing elements. The cast bell itself is very large, at 5”H, and the intact chain suspends it 10.5” from top to bottom. The artifact comes with a custom acrylic and metal stand (entire display stands 12.25” tall) and makes a lovely sound when tapped or rung.
