Russia. Catherine II The Great (Ekaterina II Velikaya), 1762-1796 AD. GIGANTIC copper 5 Kopeks coin, dated 1764-EM, Ekaterinburg mint. One side depicts the crowned script “IЄ II” monogram within laurel and palm wreath; crown above; date across field / The other side depicts a drowned double-headed imperial eagle facing with wings displayed, holding scepter and orb, coat-of-arms of Moskva framed by Order of St. Andrei Первозванного (the First Called) on breast; crown above; E м flanking tail; value on banner below. The cross-hatched edges are a bit dented and banged-up from circulation. Coin measures a huge 41mm (1 5/8”) diameter! Weighs a whopping 51.91 grams. Coin reference: Bitkin 620-var. for type. Sharp detail, deep coppery-brown tone. Very nice for these! Provenance: Ex De Père, WI collection.Accompanied by a hand-signed certificate of authenticity which includes all the details, culture, dating, motifs/inscriptions when applicable, historical relevance, and provenance.
