Holy Land, Old Testament Period, circa the time of Abraham, 2200-1550 BC. Large ceramic saucer-type oil lamp. An excellent Middle Bronze Age lamp, single spout, with rim rounded up like a bowl. The fabric of the lamp is gritty orange clay. See Adler 7; Sussman 1985 p. 45; Israeli & Avida 1; QEDEM 8.312-314; BAR p. 45; Sussman 2007, lamp 323; Smith (1964) fig. 1 for parallels. Nicely preserved and intact, save for some chips as shown, the spout and rim still charred from ancient use! Measures 3.875”L x 3.75”W x 1.625”H, and heavy!
