Spanish copper "pirate" money. An excellent large copper 8-Maravedis coin struck by Philippe III of Spain, 1598-1626 AD. Dated 1619, Segovia mint. Lion within shield with crown, inscription HISPANIARVM REX; date “1602” to right / Castle within shield with crown, inscription PHILIPPVS III D G. Coin reference: Dattari 227 for type. Coin VF, with deep coppery tone, excellent detail. Set into a stunning custom .925 silver bezel adorned with 3 genuine garnets! Total bezel diameter 35mm (1 3/8”). Coin ex Cordoba, Spain collection.Accompanied by a hand-signed certificate of authenticity which includes all the details, culture, dating, motifs/inscriptions when applicable, historical relevance, and provenance.
